he's curious, of course he is, who wouldn't be, it feels pretty clear that the key to this quest lies down there. but quests are dangerous and kara hasn't found him yet - who's going to protect him if things go wrong? he definitely can't protect himself! ]
Two of my tech-based friends have fried or attempted to fry themselves in the two weeks we've been here, and they're both going on this trip. Odds are high they might get damaged again, and I'm going to need help if we're going to get them back up and running quickly.
Also there's a chance that we'll find some of the androids who disconnected themselves from the Mass Subconscious and they might also need help and repairs. If Daylight is going, his medbot probably is too, but we might need an extra set of hands from someone who understands robotics.
[As far as Zari's concerned, there isn't really a difference between fieldwork and not. There's just a matter of what needs to be done and who is capable of doing it.]

They tried to patch into and download information from the Mass Subconscious and the data banks in the library, downloaded too much, and overloaded themselves.

They're very sweet, but I don't trust one of them to act in their own best interest right now.

[ technically, none of them know anyone all that well unless they happen to have been kidnapped from the same place around approximately the same time (and the fact that that happens at all just proves to him that there is no element of chance in this whatsoever. it also baffles him even more why he was chosen. okay sure maybe they couldn't get kara cuz she's supergirl - too many powers to control. but wouldn't alex make a better choice? or heck, even james? the guy is a titan he would be good to take with you to...okay maybe not tunnels but. never mind). they're all strangers, counting on each other's word to get by.
they have to get by. get through this. get home. and that's not gonna happen by playing it safe. whatever they have to do here, as far as he understands they're not gonna go back to the entry point until they get it done (though honestly this place is more up his alley), and if they don't go back to the entry point, they can't figure out what sent him here and how to use it to send themselves back.
and the thought of tech breaking down (and the ai or person attached to it!) and rotting away in these tunnels really does hurt him in his soul.

[She knows this is a big ask for a guy who isn't used to going in the field, but sometimes you need to take risks to get the information you need. You also need to trust your team, which can be difficult, but at the end of the day, you have to take a leap of faith.
Whatever happens down there, she will do her best to get her and Winn out alive. That, at least, she can promise him.]

As far as tech goes, I'm willing to bet that the native androids are probably a few versions below the current androids we see here in Struxta. I've been working in the repair shops so I can get you some diagnostic tech and other tools you might need.
As for the members of the circle, it varies. Connor's more humanoid and Earth based, and the tech is pretty straight forward, where as Daylight is fourteen feet tall and definitely not based in Earth tech. But he has a medbot who can help.

do you know what earth year we're talking here? any chance to get an advanced upclose look? you know, be easier to repair if I'm not seeing them for the first time broken
Pre-2042, post-2016. I know that's kind of a huge range, but I don't think he's that beyond what you're familiar with. And I'm not sure about the close up, but his anatomy is actually ... fairly similar to humans. I mean organ wise, but translated into robot form.
