[ winn is sitting with his feet in the water, pants folded up and wearing a sweatshirt. you know, classic pool attire. he holds his arm up and waves, calling out ]

[that's the Hank method of going to the pool. He grins a little and comes over, and takes a seat next to him]

[ pointing at his eyes, pointing at hank. ]

[oh my god Hank just say it. That's the expression he makes, directed at himself, before he rubs a quick hand over his face]

[ oh god hank you look like winn felt when jim dragged it out of him that he was into dude kitty. ]

Hank. [ he waits until the man looks him in the eye. ] I know I joke a lot but I'd never break your trust unless I'm mind controlled. So, you know, there's a handy tell for you. I can keep a secret.

[he trusts Winn with his life, without a doubt.

[ he can actually see the biggest smile ever forming on his face, play by play. ]

A ring? Dude! [ he shoves lightly at his shoulder before pulling him in for a hug. ] Yeah, man, of course!

[oh thank god he doesn't have to elaborate. He laughs a little and hugs him back]

Thank you. I mean - I have . . . some picked out, but I'm terrible at this stuff. And - it's important.

Of course it is.

[ he gets it, he so gets it. even if it wasn't obvious, the subject of marriage has been on his mind of late since his girlfriend...kinda...brought it up. ]

He pulls out his device and flips to the pictures he took of the ones he saw that Raven might like]

She doesn't really wear jewelry, so - I'm not even sure what she likes. And - whatever I have seen her wear, she's shifted it herself.

[ kitty is, he's a little slower. he wants to go home and actually live just the two of them in one apartment without a ton of shipmates and the threat of everything being ripped away from them at any time first... ]

Still counts as her style...

[ he looks closely at the rings. the only jewelry he bought kitty was a locket, so he's not exactly an expert here either. he tries to picture raven in his mind's eye, and think what would best suit her. ]

I like the third one, it gives off a Raven vibe.

[ten years ago that's all Hank wanted, too. This is ten - no, twenty years in the making. Even if they didn't exactly reconcile back home, but details.

Hank has never bought jewelry, but of all the people he could go to for advice, Winn was the first who came to mind. He stares down the third one, nodding slowly]

[ yeah after twenty years one might say this is overdue. winn is still in year one.

Hank huffs out a laugh and faintly shakes his head]

Going with my gut backfires on me sometimes. That's why I went looking for a second opinion.

[ raven will be the judge of whether or not they got her taste right. but he's got a feeling raven wouldn't really care as much about what the ring looks like. ]

[he knows Raven won't care what the ring looks like, and that there's more to it than that, but Hank will still panic over it til the very last moment]

I - yeah, sort of. I mean - I was planning to do it New Years' Eve. I figured . . . starting the year off with something good couldn't hurt.

[ it's ok, hank, winn would fret in your shoes too. ]

Nice, I like that. [ nudging, means he doesn't have to wait too long, what. oh yeah, it's also sweet and romantic and all that. ] But not set on the where?

[beathach]

Ah - no, not the where just yet. [he rubs at the side of his neck in his usual fidgety gesture] I've been looking around for a place - something nice, but private too? But not - our room, or anything like that.

What about grabbing a two-seater shuttle to see the nebulas?

That's . . . not a bad idea. I don't know if she's been out there yet.
